Case Study Highlight
ICU User Case: Canine Patient with Uncontrolled Diarrhea Patient
A 10-year-old Schnauzer was admitted to the veterinary ICU with uncontrolled Diarrhea.
Clinical Problem: The patient could not control defecation whereby liquid feces repeatedly contaminated the perianal skin and tail base with risk of developing moisture-associated dermatitis. The staff had to clean the patient every 30–60 minutes.
Application: The Furine Vet FMS was applied to the perianal skin. The device adhered around the anus and directed feces into the collection bag.
Clinical Benefits: Feces were diverted away from the skin, preventing sore skin, dermatitis, and maceration. The continuous fecal output was contained and measurable. Nursing time spent on repeated cleaning and trips outside for the dog were reduced notably. The patient remained cleaner, drier, and more comfortable.
